Jhn 18:6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am [he], they went backward, and fell to the ground.
Jesus and his disciples wait in the Garden of Gethsemane as our Lord feels the pressure of the time at hand. Gethsemane itself literally means olive press. This was a time of great pressure for Jesus, as our Lord would even sweat drops of blood due to the necessity and willingness to go the cross for our sins. So necessary to bridge the large gap between sinful man and a Holy God. What is amazing here is when Jesus, once again, declared his title of “I am,” the band of soldiers, about 600 men, had fallen in His presence. The power of His Word. So much evidence of His deity, so many miracles, so many signs, yet the heart of man can be so hard and calloused. Six other “I am,” has passed His lips, “ I am the Bread of life,” “I am the Light of the world,” “Before Abraham was, I am,” “I am the Door,” “I am the Good Shepard,” and “I am the Resurrection and the Life.”
